Psalm 77

Psalm 77 was the devotional reading for today. It was very good. Sometimes we get so caught up in the things that are going wrong that we don't take time to think about all the times God has been faithful. I decided to go back and look at my journal over the past year to year and a half and wow...God is good. He gives us so much more than we deserve. I am so thankful for His grace and mercy. Just looking back at all the times He has been faithful gives me a peace to go forward knowing that He is in control and that He will continue to be faithful just as He promised. "Difficulties in our lives give us the opportunity to experience the faithfulness of God." (taken from the Daily Bread).

The Day After

Today is the day after Christmas 2010. It is Sunday so we went to church, we are still in Flaherty, KY so we went to Buck Grove Baptist. It is always nice to go to Buck Grove we have so many wonderful friends there. The two year old nursery is now re-modeled and looks great. Zoey sat with us at church she is a sweet girl, almost 5 years old, and keeps everyone busy. After church we all (Matt, Hannah, Isaiah, Jackie, and Mattew - Cari wasn't feeling well and Luke was at work) went to McDonalds to eat...this is my favorite fast food resturant after Chick-fila. It was fun watching Isaiah eat french fries he loves to suck the kethup off the fries and make those fries disappear....wish I would have had my camera to post a picture. When we got home Matthew changed his oil and the rest of the afternoon we all just relaxed. I got stuff ready to go back to GA tomorrow. This is a bitter-sweet time, I sure miss being around family when we are in GA but at the same time I am ready to get back to our apartment, which for now we call "home". I really miss being around everyone, but especially Isaiah as he grows so fast and changes so quickly. So when we are at home in KY I spend much of my time playing with him and caring for him because I know that he will grow up way to quick. I pray for him and our future grandchildren that they will give their lives to Jesus and live for Him so that when we get to Heaven one day "the circle won't be broken".

Christmas 2010

It has been a very nice Christmas. Last night we went to the Christmas Eve service at Buck Grove Baptist Church and what a surprise when we left the church building to go home....a white Christmas was in store. The roads were already covered white and it felt like we were traveling home in a white tunnel, it was good to get home. We woke up this morning to a white Christmas. It was very pretty and very nice that the roads were not too bad. We were blessed to have our immediate family together this year, Matt, Hannah, & Isaiah, Matthew & Cari, and Luke and Ed & myself. We celebrated at our home in Flaherty, KY. We woke up this morning about 7:30 and all had breakfast then waited for Matthew and Cari, while we waited the boys watched "The Three Stooges".....must be a "guy" thing. Matthew and Cari arrived about 10:00 then we went downstairs around the Christmas tree and opened gifts, it was a fun time. This was Isaiah's first Christmas, I think he enjoyed the boxes and paper the best and finally gave up and took a nap. His mommy, Hannah, finished opening his gifts for him....he didn't mind in fact I think he liked it so he could just have a good time playing without all the work. After all the gifts were opened and everything cleaned up the boys went out and shot clay pigeons while I fixed dinner. We had ham, sweet potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, bread and apple pie and cherry pie for dessert. Now everything is cleaned up and Matt & Cari went to her grandparents, Luke & Jackie are playing video games, Matt, Hannah & Isaiah are taking a long nap, Ed and I are on the computers. God has given us so many blessings but the greatest gift of all is His Son, Jesus. "Happy Birthday Jesus, thank you so much for saving me, you are the best gift of all."

Just finished a great book, "The Case for Christ". If you are looking for something to read I would recommend this book. It will encourage you and strengthen your faith in Christ.
Ed and I went to Wynnbrook Baptist Church this morning. They had a Christmas program this morning with a group called "Sisters". They sang and did a great job. The group consisted of three ladies and they were actual sisters. They started singing together when they were just children and a year ago they started singing as a full-time ministry. After church we stopped at the grocery and picked up a tomato and some lettuce and headed home and made BLT's...yum.  After lunch Ed went through the filing cabinet and cleaned out a bunch of old papers, this is a end of the year tradition but most of the time I am the one doing that cleaning. We burnt up the paper shredder though and had to go get a new one this evening. It is so cold out tonight and so windy, I hated to even get out and go anywhere but glad all the papers are now shredded. I talked to my parents today and they sounded really good. Mom put up their Christmas tree today, so glad she is feeling good enough to do this. It has been a long year for her and I am so thankful that she is still with us and doing better. If you are reading this blog please keep her in your prayers. Tomorrow our son, Luke, and his friend, Will, are coming to visit us. I pray God will keep them safe tomorrow as they travel, it is about an 8 hour trip. I need to wrap Christmas gifts, I sure wish I would get in the mood to wrap them. I also need to send out our Christmas cards, wish I could get in the mood to do that too. Maybe it will come tomorrow....the mood I mean lol.

Today has been rather uneventful but full. Ed and I got up early and took the car to get the oil changed and the tires rotated. While the car was being worked on we walked to Cracker Barrel for breakfast, it was a cold walk but good. We warmed up at Cracker Barrel with pancakes and coffee...yum. Then walked over to Target and Michaels and did some Christmas shopping. Soon the phone was ringing...car was ready. We went and picked up the car then more shopping, I think we are finished yippee!!! Shopping is not my thing so I am very glad it is finished. I enjoy gift giving but don't like the shopping. It was very warm today here in Columbus, GA so Ed washed and waxed the car this afternoon, I just kept him company while he worked. We went out this evening for supper at "Mi Casa", very good Mexican buffet. Came home this evening and chilled with computers and a cup of coffee...in fact I may have another cup.
