He Did It For Us

As I was reading the Bible this morning, my reading for the day from the New Testament was Mark 15. It is about the crucifixion of Jesus. It was good to read again, I think we sometimes forget what Jesus went through for us, so we could spend eternity with him. Such mercy, grace, and love! Here is some of the passage from Mark 15:15-20 "So to pacify the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them. He ordered Jesus flogged with a lead-tipped whip, then turned him over to the Roman soldiers to be crucified. The soldiers took Jesus into the courtyard of the governor's headquarters and called out the entire regiment. They dressed him (Jesus) in a purple robe, and they wove thorn branches into a crown and put it on his head. Then they saluted him and taunted, "Hail, King of the Jews!" And they struck him on the head with a reed stick, spit on him, and dropped to their knees in mock worship. When they were finally tired of mocking him, they took off the purple robe and put his own clothes on him again. Then they led him away to be crucified." If you really stop and think about this, we cannot even imagine what Jesus went through for us. Most of us have never seen anyone crucified but it even goes further than that, just read what he went through even before the crucifixion, all of this because of our sin. He did this for us, he would rather go through all of this pain and suffering and death than to live without us. The best part of this whole story is that Jesus did not stay in the grave, He arose for us so that we can have a relationship with Him if we just give Him our lives and follow Him. His word says that "whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." After we give him our lives we need to live a life that says to God, "I love you, thank you for loving me and giving your life for me." I pray that my life will show Jesus that I love him, that it will not just be words but how I live. Jesus loves each of us and I pray that if you do not have a personal relationship with Him that you will give him your life.....He gave his life for you.
