A Prince is Born

Yesterday a prince was born in England. Born to Prince William and Kate. The media has been camping out at the hospital for weeks just waiting for the day of his birth. And guess what, they didn't call that baby a fetus or a clump of cells they actually called him a baby BEFORE he was born, imagine that! I think this is awesome that he is called a baby and not a fetus because truly life does begin at conception. Okay, I got a little side tracked. The media wanted to be the first to publish a picture of the new prince, they wanted to be the first to announce his birth. As I think about this I can't help but think back 2000 years ago when King Jesus was born. Born not in a hospital with media awaiting his birth but in a stable with no one around except his earthly father, Joseph, and his mother, Mary. Although there was no media to announce his birth, God did something much better to announce the birth of His only Son, he sent a vast host of angels. In Luke 2:13 it says the "armies of Heaven" shouted his birth to the shepherds watching their sheep and guess who became the media????? The shepherds, they hurried to see the Savior, Jesus, and then went out and told the news of His birth to everyone. Now the media is waiting to hear what the new prince will be named. There are many bets as to what his name will be. Eight days after Jesus was born he was taken to the temple, people there waited to see what his name would be. Matthew 1:21 says, "His name is Jesus for he will save his people from their sins." Luke 2:32 says, "He is a light to reveal God to the nations." Jesus is God's son, He is God in the flesh. Full of love for people, so full that He came just for us. He did not come for himself, he came for us! There is no name under heaven by which we can be saved except the name of Jesus! The birth of the prince yesterday is an awesome event! It is new life, and for that we celebrate, and it is a historical event BUT the King that came about 2000 years ago is a life saving event. He was not only born 2000 years ago but is still alive today. He came to give us life and life everlasting. He came and died a gruesome death so that we might have life. He defeated death; three days after his death HE AROSE and now lives in Heaven. He is good, kind, faithful, loving and He is king! He is MY King, He is MY Savior and He can be yours too if you put your trust in Him. Acts 16:31 says "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved...."; John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life." God loves everyone, He loves that new little prince born in England, but he loves each one of us the same, royalty or not and he does not want anyone to be separated from Him that is why he sent King Jesus to be born, to die, and to rise again. He wants us to believe and when we believe and put our trust in Jesus we have eternal life. When we put our trust in Him we become a Child of the King, we all become Princes and Princesses, isn't God wonderful. How many kings would die for you? How many kings would step down from their throne for you? Only one and His name is Jesus.
